Addressing root causes of health disparities: Strategic business and technical considerations for harnessing structured and unstructured data for clinical and community intervention
Healthcare innovation is creating new opportunities to harness data to address growing disparities in medical care, housing, behavioral health, and community safety. With the majority of health-related data being unstructured (e.g., clinical notes, medical imaging, patient-generated data), addressing root causes requires 1) Meaningful engagement with community partners to build trust, priority-setting, and data-sharing 2) Deployment of secure, scalable data infrastructure to enable data governance and accelerate interoperability, and 3) Application of advanced analytics and AI for identifying trends, modeling outcomes, and informing individual and population health intervention. Panelists will business and technical recommendations for making complex structured and unstructured data actionable for advancing health equity outcomes.
